Product Description
The Canon EOS 400D (also known as the Rebel Xti) is in my opinion one of the best budget entry-level DSLRs for anyone starting photography. It offers professional-looking results without the cost of higher-end models. There are a few small drawbacks with the 400D vs newer models we stock, however with a bit of practice you can still achieve fantastic results. The key differences vs newer models are the sensor, which is a bit lower resolution and not as good in low light. This can be countered with a good flash unit and correct camera set up, and it is a little slower in response than newer models, which can impact shots of fast moving subjects such as vehicles. It also does not have newer features such as Wifi, Blutooth or Video.
I have used various canon models over the years, which is in part how we started out with MaD Cameras, and the 400D is a great starting point in my opinion for any new photographer. While it perhaps lacks some performance on paper vs newer more expensive models, it doesn't take much practice with the camera settings before you can compete in practice with them. Starting out with an older model also helps you learn the importance of camera settings, you can achieve the same great results as newer models, but it will help you learn how to achieve them without the camera doing so much of the work for you.
We have put this starter bundle together to help you get started in photography. The 18-55mm Lens included is a great all-round lens, with good macro capabilities, general use or even wide angle capability. However for longer Zoom please check out our other 400D bundle which also includes a zoom lens. Lenses are easily switched out with a simple bayonet mechanism and any EF / EF-S mount lens will fit this model. If you are interested in other lenses then please do let us know, and we can list other combination bundles for you.
